Christmas at Disney World: Grand Floridian Resort Gingerbread House

Ready to plan a relaxing and festive day at Disney World without actually going into the parks? I’ve got you covered!

Grand Floridian is a bucket list hotel for many Disney fans, and I was lucky enough to stay there for two nights in 2015. It was pretty amazing to stay up late and watch the fireworks from the resort or to see the monorail pass by our window. However, I think I prefer some of the other deluxe resorts. But, there is nothing more magical than the lobby of the Grand Floridian at Christmastime.

Seeing a giant gingerbread house may not be something new for you, but the atmosphere inside the resort is warm and fuzzy. To plan a special day at the Grand Floridian, consider booking breakfast or lunch at The Grand Floridian Cafe.

Have a mimosa, a lobster eggs benedict, and relax. While you wait for your table (or after your meal), visit the giant Christmas tree and take a photo.

On our visit, there was a Disney Photopass photographer so we were able to snap a quick photo. My pass allows me to download the images, so this was an awesome “freebie” from our trip.

You can also shop inside Basin and the other boutiques inside the resort, but it was pretty amazing to take in the sights and sounds of the gingerbread house. With 1,050 pounds of honey along with other ingredients, the 20th anniversary of this tradition was amazing to see in person.
