Last year, my son participated in the runDisney Kids Dash and was so proud of himself! It really was a lot of fun, and if you’re considering letting your kids run, here’s what you need to know:

RunDisney Kids Races

There are actually two races for the kids: the Dash and the One Mile Run. The Dash is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. It’s broken into three, separate dashes: one for babies 12 months and under, one for little ones 1 to 4 years of age, and another for 5 to 8-year-olds. The One Mile is great for kids from 4 years old all the way to 13.

My son is almost seven, and we haven’t done the mile quite yet. The next time we register, it will be for the mile. He did multiple 200-meter dashes though.

The races are held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and registration has already begun for next year’s race (to be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020). The Dash costs $20 and the One Mile costs $30. As you can probably tell, runners don’t actually run through a Disney park, but they do still get to see Mickey himself. In fact, he’ll be handing out high-fives and cheering the kids on as they go!

Everyone leaves with a medal and parents are welcome to participate. The great thing about this event is that, unlike with the adult races, it doesn’t start until 10:30 a.m. (and 1:00 p.m. for the One Mile). All participants also get a race bib, a shirt, a certificate and refreshments included in the cost of registration.

Disney Photo Pass photographers are on site to capture all the fun, and if you’re a gold annual passholder or above, it makes it SO easy to download these memories after the event.

You can even use the kids medal to redeem a few neat deals after the race! There will be a brochure that will have the Disney Springs deals that you can cash in on after you run!

I definitely recommend this event for your active kiddos. It’s a nice activity for the day, and my son has been SO proud every time he ran.
