Panama City Beach: Shipwreck Island Water Park
If you’re looking for a fun way to beat the heat with your family while on vacation in Panama City Beach, check out the tropical-themed, 20-acre Shipwreck Island Waterpark! Chock-full of activities for kids of all ages, this park will keep the fun rolling all day long! We were able to visit during a trip in August, and we had SO much fun! We spent a few hours here, and I wanted to share everything that you can do. My son is five, so we were still able to enjoy MANY parts of this water park. Sometimes families with younger children might not opt for an attraction like this, but I assure you it is awesome! Here’s what you can expect:
Pro tip: The waterpark will re-open on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Season passes will go on sale around Thanksgiving through New Years at a special sale price of $89.99. After that, the price will be $99.99 until opening day.
The Pirate’s Plunge Racing Slide: This set of dueling slides run side by side from a 60-foot-tall tower. Ready, set, go!
White Knuckle River: This 660-foot-long inner tube ride has tubes that are big enough to fit the whole family at once, and is full of twists and turns.
The Great Shipwreck:Zipline off this replica of a 17th-century sailing ship and drop into a lagoon pool!
Tree Top Drop: This ride features two slides from a 65-foot-tall platform. One is a dark tube that drops onto a free fall slide that sends riders down a rapid drop. The other is an enclosed, twisting, tube slide.

Ocean Motion Wave Pool: This 500,000-gallon pool generates three-foot waves every 10 minutes. It’s the perfect “ocean” atmosphere for people who may be afraid of creatures lurking in the Gulf.
The Raging Rapids: This one’s perfect for fans of white water rafting. Riders splash through the rough waters in a big inner tube, until the 50-foot splash down at the finale
The Zoom Flume:his ride was one of the first at the park and is still a favorite today. Three flumes curve in and around a massive hill, merging together in a big pool.
The Lazy River:Coast and relax along 2,000 feet of the slow-moving river through the park.
Skull Island:This family activity pool has both a kiddie slide and a family racing slide. It’s also got a fort with a big tipping bucket that pours 700 gallons of water on guests every few minutes!
The Tadpole Hole: This huge kiddie pool features a frog slide, a ship slide, an elephant slide, a pelican slide, and an old submarine.
When you’re ready for lunch, you’ll have our choice of seven eateries, including one that serves alcohol and two ice cream shops. They all serve an assortment of barbecue, pizza, hot dogs, burgers, salads, wraps, funnel cakes and even frozen drinks! Don’t forget to pick up a souvenir from The Pirate’s Plunder on your way out. Forgot something at the hotel? The shop has a wide variety of Panama Jack sun care products, sunglasses, and more.
Tickets cost $35.98 for people above 50 inches tall and $29.98 for people below 50 inches tall. Children below 35 inches tall are admitted at no cost. Seniors over 62 pay $24.98. Lockers are available for $8.00 for a small, $10.00 for a medium, and $13.00 for the jumbo, with a $2.00 refund available when the key is returned at the end of each day.
The park is open from April through August each year, and from 10:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. most days, but check the website before you go. I find that their Facebook has the most up to date information, and you can always call too!
