Westin Cape Coral Review: SWFL Hotels
Sometimes you just need to get away. Whether it’s a globe-trotting adventure across the ocean or a staycation in your own city, it is nice to have a break. While I didn’t board any planes to enjoy a brief break, I sure felt like I was miles away (even if I was just down the road). I had the opportunity to stay at the Westin Cape Coral two weeks ago, and it was just what I needed to refresh and recharge. If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you may know that I’m in a bit of a transition stage. I so needed a weekend to relax.

Enter the Westin Cape Coral. Located about two miles from my home (seriously, I can walk there!), it is based at the Tarpon Point Marina. There’s restaurants, boats, and cute shops in this plaza. We frequently stop by for a walk on the docks to watch the sunset or for a few happy hour drinks. Yet, I’ve never actually been able to stay here. Living near and actually staying here are two different things. This was the ideal spot for a girls’ weekend. We honestly felt like we could stay here the whole time. There was no need to leave the property. Everything was taken care of.

The Westin graciously gave us a large suite with a killer view of the Caloosahatchee River. Oh, and there were two Blue Moons in the fridge waiting for me. It’s like they KNEW me.

This patio had a wide view of Cape Coral and Ft. Myers. I took this trip with a friend, and we used this area to relax and talk business! She is launching a yoga and coaching company, and we spent a few hours working on her new WordPress site. Being away from home gave me the motivation to focus and think about my own business. But, back to the room.

I took this from the window of one of the rooms in the hotel suite. My house is somewhere up there! I’ve never been able to see my city from this height, and it is beautiful.

Here is a peek at my room. Introducing the Heavenly Bed! Westin’s are known for their comfortable beds, and this one didn’t disappoint. The two nights in this room were probably the most well-rested I had felt in a long time.

And, with a view like that, it was honestly hard to get out of bed. Though, we had happy hours to attend!

The view from my window.

Next to the pool is The Nauti Mermaid. It’s a waterfront bar with a stellar drink menu.

What to choose, what to choose…

Happy hour came with a view. Even if you’re not staying at the Westin, you can come by The Nauti Mermaid for palm trees and perfect drinks. I was impressed with the quality of the drinks, and they were worth every penny. Sometimes it’s okay to have a ten dollar cocktail. Especially when it looks like this…
One strawberry mojito please! The mint was divine, and this was the perfect companion to a hot Florida afternoon.

If you live or have ever traveled to Florida in the summer, you know we have unpredictable “storms” in the afternoon. They last anywhere from five minutes to five hours, and the sky can remain somewhat sunny. It’s insanity. We sat at The Nauti Mermaid, and we watched the storm roll in. It was beautiful actually.

After dinner and drinks, we headed out to “downtown” Cape Coral which is a short five minute drive. It’s an affordable cab ride if you’re in the area.
We spent the next day entirely at the resort, and we didn’t run out of things to do. We started with brunch at Marker 92 which is on property.

A late night out required caffeine. This decadent cappuccino was topped with cinnamon, while my iced latte was just what I needed to get the day started.

We sat outside adjacent to the pool and enjoyed the sunshine.

I also relished in the fact that I got to sleep in, and I didn’t have a toddler waking me up. It seriously was just what I needed.

If you’re not familiar with Westin resorts, you might not know that they really care about the food that they serve and the total guest experience. One look at the menu and I knew that Westin was different. Everything was healthy and fresh. The kitchen was open and clean. I felt confident in my order, and I knew that was going to be perfect. There were no greasy breakfast items here. This menu was quality.

My friend ordered salmon “benedict” with the sauce on the side, while I ordered my usual bacon and eggs.

The next morning I went a little wild and tried something new.

This spinach omelet with a salad on the side was filling yet healthy.
What else did we do while at the Westin? Well, we had some more drinks.

This sparkling Paloma was topped with Prosecco!
We took photos around the property and relished in the sunshine.

I took a bath.

How could you not with that tub?

We enjoyed another happy hour at The Nauti Mermaid. I ordered some chicken wings and straight up relaxed. I can’t tell you how I hadn’t had a weekend like this in many months (maybe years!). To know that I had literally no responsibilities and all my needs were attended to.

Besides the pool, the on-site restaurants, the view, and the luxurious services available, the Westin Cape Coral does boast an impressive gym. If I had been feeling atheletic, I totally would have hopped on a machine. Though, I had been drinking and ate wings, so clearly working out wasn’t in my future. Yet, if you’re the type who likes to vacation and carry on with your fitness, the Westin has you covered. They even let you rent sneakers if you need them, and they have cold towels in a fridge in the gym. Score!

If I haven’t convinced you yet to come visit me in Cape Coral, I don’t know what else could sway your opinion! The Westin has everything for you on a waterfront property with nearby parks, beaches, bars and restaurants, and outdoor activities. Rent a bike and head to the butterfly garden or kayak in the river. This hotel is near Ft. Myers, Sanibel Island, and Naples. The grounds are beautiful, and this is probably the best place to hold a wedding in the southwest Florida area. I am so impressed with the location, the service, and the amenities.

The Westin Cape Coral is close to Rotary Park. You can borrow a bike and head there to tour the butterfly gardens, walk the trail, or enjoy the playground!
